About this price

Brent is the international crude oil benchmark used to price most of the world's traded oil. This page shows the EIA daily Europe Brent spot price (free on board) in US dollars per barrel, from May 1987. It is a spot assessment, not the ICE Brent futures price, and EIA publishes it once a week.

Brent usually trades at a premium to WTI because it is waterborne and easier to ship to global buyers; the spread between the two widens and narrows with US pipeline capacity, exports and regional supply.
